I’ve got to be honest with y’all and say that I really didn’t want to write this post. Mostly because 2019 was probably my least productive gaming year EVER… but I’ll let you see for yourself.
If you know me at all, then you know that I’m a big fan of statistics. I was very happy when Sony sent out my PlayStation stats for 2019.
I was surprised to see that I played nearly thirty different games in 2019!
1 If you had asked, I most definitely would have put Destiny 2 in the top position.
Destiny 2 is the game that introduced me to many new friends and it is the one in which we, obviously, spent the most time adventuring.
2 I really enjoy playing Stardew Valley and can’t tell you how many hours I’ve lost just tending to my crops or chasing villagers with gifts as I try to make friends, lol. There is something very rewarding about getting up, being productive, and reaping the rewards of that hard work. Even if it’s in a video game.
3 As for Anthem? I feel like that’s a story for another time, but while I really wanted to fall in love with the game, there was so little game to play that it’s been pretty easy to set aside. Seriously, I have loved BioWare since the first day I played Mass Effect and I wanted so badly for Anthem to be the next jewel in their crown and it just… wasn’t.
No one was more shocked than I was to see that my top genre for 2019 was FPS.
I realize that, technically, Destiny 2 is an FPS, but it’s not usually my go-to genre.
Most of the time, I gravitate towards indie developer games with really unique art styles or game mechanics.
I think the four First Person Shooter games I earned trophies in were: Anthem, Destiny 2, Destiny, and maybe Apex Legends?
It’s actually not surprising that my “prime time to play” was Thursday afternoons. For most of 2019, I worked mostly night shift weekends and Thursday was my off day. Now that 24 hour – longest gaming streak? That was actually a combination of my own game play and my brother helping me to complete the Undying Seal in Destiny 2’s Season of the Undying.
I’m probably the most proud about the number of new trophies that I earned in 2019. Some of these were really hard to get and just made them all the more rewarding when that notification pinged on my screen.
It is kind of a bummer that I didn’t get any platinum trophies, even for the games I did complete 100%. Indie games like The First Tree don’t always have a platinum trophy for completing the game, but that doesn’t make them any less rewarding or fun to play.
Sometimes, I embrace my inner nerd and sit down to do the math and figure out how many gaming hours I’ve played vs. the number of trophies I’ve earned. Ah yes, good times.
So, there you have it, my PlayStation gaming stats for 2019.
